On its Telegram account, the Ukrainian spy agency GUR announced that it had destroyed a first Russian helicopter using R-73 SeeDragon missiles fired by a Magura V5 naval drone, while a second aircraft managed to return to its base. This Thursday, January 2, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense confirmed that the two devices were indeed destroyed.

It’s not one, but good two Russian Mi-8 helicopters which were destroyed by the Ukrainian army thanks to missiles R-73 SeeDragon pulled by a naval drone Magura V5.

While Ukrainian spy agency GUR announced on his Telegram account on December 31 that he had shot down a single device while a second managed to return to base after being damaged during the attack, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense confirmed on its X account this Thursday, January 2, that the two Russian helicopters were indeed destroyed.

Images of the attack had been broadcast by the GUR on YouTube and on which one could see a helicopter flying above the water targeted by several projectiles. The aircraft was filmed falling after the attack.

According to the GUR, this is the first time that a Ukrainian navy naval drone managed to shoot down an aerial target. This information has not been independently verified. Russia made no comment.
