Gregor Deschwanden reached the podium at the New Year’s competition in Garmisch, the second stop of the 4 Hills Tour. The Lucerne jumper was only beaten by the Austrian Daniel Tschofenig.

In 3rd place after the initial round and a jump of 138 meters, Deschwanden negotiated well the end of the competition disrupted by a capricious wind. He managed a second jump measured at 140.5 meters, but had to admit defeat against Tschofenig, like on December 7 in Wisla. The Austrian managed two jumps beyond 140 meters to sign his 7th World Cup victory.

Deschwanden provisional 4th of the Tour

A victory which Deschwanden still refuses, on the box for the 4th time of the season and for the 1st time on the prestigious Tournée des 4 Tremplins. The 33-year-old from Lucerne has really shown remarkable consistency this winter. He is now in 4th place in the Tour rankings before the competitions in Innsbruck (January 4) and Bischofshofen (January 6). The first three places are occupied by Austrians: Daniel Tschofenig, Jan Hörl and Stefan Kraft.

Killian Peier also competed in both rounds of this New Year’s Eve competition, but had to settle for 30th place after finishing 15th in qualifying on Tuesday.
