Extension coming to the Paris metro game board! Although it has been underway since June 23, the double extension of line 14 has, since that day, been deprived of the Villejuif-Gustave-Roussy station, due to necessary additional work. A gap soon to be filled since the manager Grand Paris Express announced the opening of the station to the public from January 18, 2025.
A dock located 50 meters underground
Users will then be able to discover a labyrinthine station, which, in addition to line 14, will also host a stop for the future line 15, supposed to be inaugurated in the summer of 2026. On the plans drawn up by the architecture firm Dominique Perrault – to whom we notably owe the BnF of the 13th -, we discover a building accessible to PRMs, topped with a large rounded and ribbed glass roof. Which lights up a station that looks like an anthill in aluminum and sandstone, where 32 escalators and 16 elevators serve 9 levels, the last of which, located nearly 50 meters underground, gives access to the platforms. On the ceiling of this final floor, users will see 58 light boxes bearing the names of stars, created by the Chilean optical artist Iván Navarro. The new game can begin.
