Tradition every first day of the year on 2, a musical escapade with the New Year’s concert of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. For this edition of January 1, 2025, it is directed by Riccardo Muti.

The artistic collaboration with Maestro Muti began in 1971 and, since then, he has conducted more than 500 concerts with the orchestra, including six New Year’s concerts, points out France Télévisions.

The year 2025 marks the 200th anniversary of the birth of Johann Strauss. To commemorate this important anniversary, the Vienna Philharmonic will perform a selection of works by this renowned composer. 2025 also marks the 30th anniversary of Austria’s accession to the EU, an event commemorated with Josef Strauss’s Transaction Waltz.

The New Year’s concert will be broadcast by France 2 and France Musique from 11:10 a.m. François-Xavier Szymczak, producer of the show “Lesessentiels” on France Musique, will provide the comments, live on both channels.
