Kate Beckinsale has revealed she was forced to take part in a photo shoot just one day after suffering a miscarriage. In a video posted on Instagram, the 51-year-old English actress explained that her press secretary had forced her to honor this appointment despite her condition.
“I was forced by a press agent, whom I employed, to do a photo shoot the day after my miscarriage,” she says. I said, “I can’t. I’m bleeding. I don’t want to change in front of strangers and have a photoshoot. I’m losing my baby.” She said, ‘You’ll have to do it or you’ll be prosecuted.’”
Kate Beckinsale also spoke out about other abuse she suffered, including dangerous situations on set. She claims to have been “left out of the system” after reporting risky fight scenes, which caused her injuries. For daring to speak out, she says she was “blamed and sidelined”.
The star of “A Love in New York” claims to have found the strength to speak out after the complaint filed by Blake Lively against Justin Baldoni, director and costar of the film “It Ends With Us”. The American actress accuses the latter of harassment and of leading a smear campaign against her, accusations that the person concerned has denied.
According to Kate Beckinsale, this case illustrates “the machine that starts as soon as a woman denounces something legitimately offensive, harmful or upsetting in this industry. I thank Blake Lively for showing that this is not a problem of the past. This continues today. And when a woman dares to speak, a machine is set up to destroy her. I’m sure this is the case in other industries too, and it needs to stop.”
