From Wednesday, new provisions will come into force. They concern in particular the unemployed and RSA beneficiaries.

RSA registrations and new obligations

From January 1, all beneficiaries of the Active Solidarity Income (RSA) will be automatically registered with Travail, compared to only 40% so far. An employment contract will define social and professional integration objectives, with weekly activities which may include training, internships or company immersions. This reform concerns 1.84 million people, including 200,000 young people in the integration process.

Restrictions on the use of meal vouchers

The use of titres-restaurants to buy food products in a supermarket is no longer permitted. This measure, put in place in 2022 to counter inflation, has not been renewed. A solution could be considered within the framework of the 2025 finance bill.

Raising awareness of the dangers of screens

The health record now includes information on the risks linked toexcessive screen use in children. This approach aims to make parents aware of the negative effects, such as desocialization and psychological disorders.

Increase in retirement pensions

THE retirement pensions basic increases by 2.2% on January 1, in line with inflation. Initially contested by the government to reduce the Social Security deficit, this increase was maintained thanks to the law in force.

Prohibition on rental of G-rated accommodation

THE G-rated accommodation according to the Energy Performance Diagnosis (DPE) can no longer be rented. This ban will be extended to F housing in 2028, then to E housing in 2034. Adjustments could be discussed for co-ownerships under construction.

Evolution of gas and PEL prices

The price “landmark“natural gas increases, reaching €0.146/kWh for cooking and hot water. Consumers are invited to compare offers to limit the impact. Furthermore, the rate of new Housing Savings Plans (PEL) falls to 1.75%, a level not seen since 2016.

End of inter-line traffic for two-wheelers

Two-wheelers can no longer travel between cars, a practice considered dangerous. Additionally, Crit’Air 3 vehicles are now prohibited in certain low-emission zones, with exceptions for specific situations.

Increase in prices of tobacco and postal services

From January 1, the price of cigarettes increase. It can sometimes reach an additional euro per package. La Poste is also revising its prices upwards, with average increases of 6.8% for mail and parcels.

Changes in transport in Île-de-France

A single ticket for €2.50 replaces the old tickets for travel throughout the region. This change aims to simplify travel in the metro, RER and Transilien networks.
