The organization announced that the Catalan club has not presented “any alternative” allowing “the registration of players from January 2.

La Liga said in a statement regarding FC Barcelona’s salary cap that “to date, December 31, Barcelona has not presented any alternative which, in accordance with La Liga’s economic control regulations, allows it to register players from January 2.” Therefore, neither Dani Olmo nor Víctor were registered.

Before this statement from La Liga, published after 9 p.m., the Catalan institution informed that it had requested a new license from the Royal Spanish Federation (RFEF) for the players, who had to be registered in La Liga before the 1st January.

Furthermore, the Azulgrana entity denied having “requested or received any moratorium from another organization for the requested registration.”

Barcelona intends to register Olmo and Víctor through the sale of part of the new VIP boxes at the Spotify Camp Nou, for which it will earn around 100 million euros.

Opening of the European winter transfer market marked by new rules

La Liga was waiting for the Azulgrana organization to complete all the required documentation regarding the new contracts and the payment guarantees of these contracts.

The operation, concluded by the club’s president, Joan Laporta, in Dubai last week, and activated after unsuccessfully exhausting the legal route to register the two players, should also allow Barcelona to return to the rule of fair play financial 1:1.

This means that Barça, in addition to ensuring the continuity of Olmo and Víctor in the first team, could operate at full capacity in the next transfer market.
