Even although the last two New Year’s Eves were marked by a decline in urban violence, the Bas-Rhin prefecture still took several measures to ensure security during the night of December 31. A major device is deployed on the ground.

Throughout Bas-Rhin, the prefecture has banned the purchase, sale, possession, transfer, carrying, transport and use of fireworks and pyrotechnic articles of categories F2 and F3, and this until January 3.

A curfew has also been put in place for unaccompanied minors under the age of 16. by one of their parents or a representative of parental authority. This curfew concerns the municipalities of , Hoenheim, Bischheim, Illkirch-Graffenstaden, Lingolsheim and Ostwald.

To avoid sensationalism and possible “burning car competitions”, as the region has experienced in the past, DNA has decided not to keep a real-time count of vehicle fires during New Year’s Evenor to publish a litany of photos of burning cars. Known incidents will be mentioned here in brief, and the results of New Year’s Eve will be drawn up on January 1, based on feedback from the authorities and emergency services.
