RETRO 2024. Having left his mark on the Golf world, not only in Estrie, but also throughout the province, André Maltais receives the ultimate recognition in the summer of 2024 by being inducted into the Golf Québec Hall of Fame.
The man whom many nicknamed the “Jean Béliveau of golf”, because of his gentlemanly side, distinguished himself as a player, but also as a club professional and teacher.
During his induction held at the prestigious Club Laval-sur-le-Lac, the leaders of the place simultaneously offered him the title of honorary life member.
It was there that he made his debut in the role of assistant professional, under the guidance of the legendary Jules Huot, before occupying the position of head professional for around fifteen years (1970 to 1986) .
A native of Sherbrooke, André Maltais also lived in Magog, after owning the Waterville Golf Club from 1987 to 2000.
Now 82 years old, he still continues to play golf with the same passion, and above all, the same kindness that has characterized him for more than 60 years.
