the essential
Thursday, December 26, two young people tried to throw cannabis at an inmate over the walls of Foix prison. Thanks to the vigilance of an OFB agent, they were sentenced this Tuesday, December 31, to six months in prison.
The day after Christmas, an inmate at the Foix remand center hoped to obtain an illicit gift, namely cannabis, but Santa’s two elves had some problems delivering the package. Thursday, December 26, when it was just after 2 p.m., Karim*, aged 25, dropped off Mehdi* a few steps from the Ariège prison.
Barely an adult, he runs along the wall of the overcrowded enclosure before climbing the OFB (French Office for Biodiversity) building. Stuck at the prison, Mehdi then throws around 280 grams of cannabis, packaged in multiple small bags, through the cracks of the net installed above the courtyard where the inmates come for walks.
The OFB agent allows their arrest
So far, everything seems to be going well for the two young men who came from Muret in a gray Clio. Problem: before even getting off the roof, an OFB agent, who was working this Thursday, December 26, summons Mehdi to come down, the latter then warns his accomplice, still in the car, to approach the place.

The 18-year-old native of Toulouse got out and tried to escape. Unaware that he is an agent holding public authority, he struggles, escapes, but loses a shoe in the struggle. The OFB agent, who was insulted by the one who managed to get back into the car, certainly did not expect to experience such an event the day after Christmas.
Despite the shock, the man, who preferred not to go to the immediate appearance hearing on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, memorized the license plate, which allowed the arrest of the two individuals a few minutes later. that they were heading back towards the Toulouse region.
Accomplices no longer so accomplices…
Karim, at the wheel of his car, puts up no resistance when he sees the flashing lights behind his Clio. The two men are then taken into custody. Mehdi, who only had one shoe when he was arrested, is also recognized by the OFB agent.
The two men, placed in pre-trial detention, were therefore tried this Tuesday by the Foix judicial court. If they were accomplices a few days before, this seems to have disappeared during their speeches in front of the president of the court, Pauline Chaulet. While he had been rather vague in his previous versions, the younger of the two defendants decided to tell everything. “That day, I received a message on Snapchat asking me to do a screening. I didn’t know Karim, who came to pick me up outside my house. explained how we were going to do it.”

Incriminating remarks that were very little appreciated by his accomplice. With a black look, he cuts her off and insults her while trying to be discreet. “Please do not comment when it is not your place to speak,” firmly warns Pauline Chaulet. Obviously, Karim tells a completely different story in court. He does not recognize anything, apart from the fact of having “thrown” Mehdi outside the prison.
Despite their explanations, these two defendants, now estranged, had to face their trial, and the requests for acquittal on certain charges from the two lawyers, Maîtres Plais-Thomas and Parant, were not accepted. The court followed the requisitions of the public prosecutor. Both men were sentenced to six months in prison. For Mehdi, it will be suspended while for Karim, continued detention has been ordered. They were also banned from appearing in Ariège for two years.
