A total of 15,082 people have been vaccinated against seasonal flu in the wilaya of Khenchela since the launch of the national vaccination campaign in mid-October, said Zineddine El Okbi, director of health and population of the province. wilaya (DSP).

The operation benefited 5,623 people aged 65 and over, 6,229 people with chronic illnesses, 120 pregnant women, 2,812 health sector officials, 138 travelers to perform the rites of Umrah (small pilgrimage) and 16 children suffering from chronic illnesses, said the DSP. The campaign continues through the health establishments of the wilaya until it reaches all targeted categories, according to the same source who added that the vaccine is provided free of charge at public clinics, as it is also offered by approved pharmacies. for money, then reimbursed by social security.

No fewer than 37 fixed vaccination centers and 6 other mobile ones, intended for isolated localities, have been reserved by the health department for this vaccination campaign which is part of efforts to preserve public health and protection of categories most exposed to the risks of complications linked to seasonal diseases, according to the DSP.

The prevention service of the same directorate received in mid-October last 18,500 doses of vaccine against seasonal flu which were then distributed to local public health establishments in the 21 municipalities of the wilaya, it was indicated. Mr. El Okbi invited people in targeted categories, particularly those with chronic illnesses and pregnant women, to contact public health establishments and pharmacies to be vaccinated.
