“Who will be the liar? » is withdrawn from sales and the government issued a reminder to buyers this Thursday. While parents were outraged by this board game launched by star YouTuber Michou and denounced cards for adults, the publisher chose to respond to the controversy and apologized.

A fleeting gift. In the board game presented as “family”, content creator Michou, who participated in Dancing with the Stars, found cards unsuitable for a young audience. Thanks to complaints from parents who unboxed the game with their children, the publisher decided to withdraw the product and reimburse families.

“Who will be the liar?” should be “all audiences” and “ideal for playing with friends, with family or even with new acquaintances,” said Michou in his presentation video. He explained that he had “worked for several months” there. However, questions deemed problematic were raised because of “a manufacturing error in the content validation processes”, underlines the publisher Topigames. A recall was even officially launched by the government platform Rappel Conso this Thursday, January 2, 2025 for “moral risk linked to the content” of the game.

“Have you ever used an everyday object to do something naughty?”, “Have you ever had an erotic dream”, “Have you ever used narcotics?” or “Have you ever had an animal in heat who wanted to do it with you?” So many shocking sentences that outraged parents on social networks in this game bearing the words “7 years and over” on its box. “The creators of this game really have a problem recommending it to children,” says one of the outraged adults.

However, Internet users noted the already effective presence of non-adapted cards during his presentation video. The video appears to have been deleted.

the youtuber's apology

“Friends, I received messages about the game “Who will be the liar?”, you know me, I would never have allowed myself to put these kinds of questions in it and even less for such a young audience. I immediately passed on the information,” published Michou on his X account.

He had already indicated “an error on the part of the publisher on the age target of the game”, before apologizing “to all the people who this could have disappointed”.

Topigames, the publisher, apologized for “this incident” and “takes full and complete responsibility”.
