In our Regard videocast, Georges-Louis Bouchez immediately returned to the birth of his son, and the influence that this event had on his daily life.
“When we come home, we know that there is something more important than everything else. In terms of satisfaction, we no longer find fulfillment only through our work. We give things another perspective”he confides. “This year, there were also victories in June and October. There were constraints, but it was a wonderful year.”
Has Georges-Louis Bouchez become the best friend of the Engagés in 2024? “It’s not false, but the Engagés have also become my best friends, in particular Maxime Prévot. (…) The teams work well together. It’s an axis that I hope to keep for many years, with our differences. This axis covers the reasonable people of the country (…) One of the favorites of this year 2024 is to work with Maxime Prévot. respect.”
Among the disappointments, the president of the MR would have liked the governments in Brussels and at the federal level to be formed. “Perhaps even more disappointed for Brussels, because the federal government, when you have a budgetary exercise of more than 20 billion to carry out, we understand that it takes a little time. The municipal elections have slowed down the process. But in Brussels, it There’s no reason for it to slow down like this.”
I am a former poor
Also president of the Francs Borains football club, Georges-Louis Bouchez also believes that politicians should all have another activity.
“Why? Because they are theorists. Today, what is the classic path? Guys, they go to university, then they join a ministerial office, they become deputies and then ministers. And so, they have never filed a VAT return. They don’t know what it’s like to have to earn money to pay salaries. I have to find the money. I have VAT, I have the NSSO, I have all the controls that come into play. So, at some point, that puts me in real life.”declares the president of the MR.
And to continue: “There is a big difference and I told my fellow negotiators, when they decide on a tax, for them, it is a theoretical thing. For me, the tax, when it is decided, that I return to my club to pay it, I know I have to find money to pay it.”
The president of the MR also spoke about his relationship with money. “(…) I’m not going to pretend like some of my colleagues, by saying that money doesn’t count. Like everyone else, we want to protect our family. I prefer to have a nice house… (…) I am not a nouveau riche, but I am a former poor person. That is to say, I come from a background where we did not have many means. Dad pulled a van for 14 years, a Renault Trafic. It was the Renault Trafic. in which I was transported in my childhood, at school. 14 years old, that’s a long time. It had a big impact on me. And when I was a child, I dreamed of one thing, it was. having a sedan is stupid, but having a car with five doors, windows in the back… That was my goal People who tell you that money is not. important are generally people who have them.”
