There are end-of-year celebrations more significant than others and this 2024 edition risks remaining for a long time in the memory of Myriam El Yassa, first federal secretary of the Socialist Party in Doubs. The day after Santa Claus visited, the former municipal councilor of Besançon found herself in police custody. 9 hours long. The reason? A complaint for aggravated breach of trust. The qualification is serious, the facts a little less so.
She pleads “a material error in good faith”
The socialist is in fact accused of being responsible for damage of around €80, after having entered the RIB of a septuagenarian PS member instead of his own when paying for his home insurance. “A bona fide material error,” argues Myriam El Yassa.
The first secretary even announced that she had sent, the day after her release, “a registered letter including a check to the person concerned” in order to “fully reimburse the amount taken before the date set by the prosecution, i.e. January 10, 2025”.
If these facts are only intended to be an incident in the political life of Myriam El Yassa, they risk wilting a little more the socialist rose, already a victim of the administrative phobia of Thomas Thévenoud, passed to posterity. “This incident has no link with the commitment or values of the PS”, defends the first secretary who calls for us to remain focused on “the upcoming municipal elections”.
In all circumstances, the important thing is the rose.
