The name of Christensen, who allowed the registration of both players at the start of the season due to injury, returns to the list.

No sign of Dani Olmo or Víctor appears on the LaLiga website. The registration cards of the two players, with their respective numbers (20 and 18), disappeared from the Blaugrana squad after the deadline for their registration expired, which took place yesterday. This time, Joan Laporta failed to achieve his goal before the end of the year, leaving both players’ futures in limbo.

After nine in the evening, the league body, led by Javier Tebas, announced in a statement regarding the salary cap that FC Barcelona had not presented “any alternative which, respecting the financial control regulations of LaLiga, would allow them to register players from January 2.”

Olmo Decides to Stay at Barcelona – Player’s Agent

Before this declaration from LaLiga, the Catalan club had informed that it had requested a new license from the Federation for Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor, which had to be registered in LaLiga before January 1. If the RFEF accepts Barcelona’s request, it would deactivate point 5 of article 141 of the RFEF General Regulations, which states that a player cannot be registered twice by the same club during a season. On the other hand, the Blaugrana entity denied having “requested or received any moratorium from another body for the registration it requests”.

The blaugrana’s difficulties in respecting financial fair play continue to be a constant headache at each transfer window. However, they never reached the point of excluding a player of the stature of this season’s star. It is worth noting that Olmo, who cost 55 million euros, and Víctor could be registered thanks to the long-term injury of Andreas Christensen, whose registration reappeared on the LaLiga website after his recovery – he is awaiting a medical green light.

Transfer update: FC Barcelona unable to register Dani Olmo

Olmo’s only reaction came via Instagram, where he posted photos celebrating New Year’s Eve with his partner and friends. His gesture of marking the time – a celebration imported from NBA player Damian Lillard – with the message “It’s time for 2025” is accompanied by two blue and garnet hearts.

FC Barcelona aimed to register players by giving up part of the operation of the new VIP boxes at Spotify Camp Nou, for which they will earn around 100 million euros. LaLiga was waiting for the Blaugrana entity to complete all the required documentation regarding new contracts and payment guarantees.

The operation, finalized by Laporta in Dubai last week and activated after unsuccessfully pursuing legal avenues to register the two players, should also allow FC Barcelona to return to the 1:1 Financial Fair Play rule.
