Authorities are investigating whether the man indicted for the rape and murder of Iris Coëtmen in Lanester (Morbihan) in Brittany committed other misdeeds in France. A police source confirms News Morbihan that one search circular was broadcast in police stations in France.
A circular distributed to gendarmes and police officers
In May 2023, the lifeless body of Iris was discovered in Blavet in Lanester. Christophe R. was indicted for the rape and murder of the young woman.
Since December 6, 2024, as revealed the Telegrama search circular was sent to the police and gendarmerie stations of France by the Central Office for the Repression of Violence against Persons (OCRVP).
Contacted, the Lorient public prosecutor’s office indicates News Morbihan that, “as soon as it was referred to it in 2023, the investigating magistrate of Lorient had entrusted the OCRVP with the task of carrying out any possible cross-checks around the route of the person indicted”.
The prosecution adds:
To date, these investigations have not brought any new information. In order to continue these normal checks, certain elements were circularized at the request of the investigating judge, on December 6, 2024, without any conclusion being able to be drawn, at this stage, or deducing the existence of any particular turning point in this procedure.
Find out if other wrongdoings have been committed
The document of several pages gives the background, profile, modus operandi and background (conviction in 2015 for violent rape and suspicion of another rape in Lorient in 2000) of the accused. The objective is to make connections with other businesses in France.
Its modus operandi
He used to go to near nightclubs late at night. He used a link to catch his victims and then carry out his misdeeds. Investigators found numerous pieces of women’s underwear at his home. He often traveled in a utility vehicle, scooter, car without a license or in a van.
Investigators who qualify him as “sexual predator” are therefore trying to find out if he has caused other victims.
Living mainly in Morbihan
The accused lived a large part of his life in Hennebont and in communities around Lorient. He also spent time in the Channel in 2000.
