Bronze medalist at the last Olympic Games in Paris with Tanja Hüberli, Nina Brunner will not return to beach volleyball straight away. The 29-year-old from Zug announced that she was expecting, with her husband Damien Brunner, a little girl next year.
“2024, a year that we will remember on and off the field,” she wrote on Instagram Tuesday evening. After an incredible season with Paris as the absolute highlight, the biggest joy comes next: baby Brunner is on the way and we can’t wait to meet her at the start of summer.”
At the beginning of October, Nina Brunner explained that she wanted to take a break from high-level sport. “The last nine years have been incredibly beautiful, successful, but also very intense. I would like to devote myself to starting my own family,” she said at the time.
The double European champion (2021 and 2023) is in a relationship with hockey player Damien Brunner (38), who is under contract with HC Bienne. They have been married since November 2021.
