Following the gigantic repair of Notre-Dame de Paris, the host of History Secrets noted a detail which offended him in the restoration of the building and did not hesitate to attack the President of the Republic.

“I have nothing against Claire Tabouret nor against contemporary stained glass windows. But I am in favor of them when the old ones are destroyed or deteriorated”declares Stéphane Bern to the regional daily. “We cannot remove stained glass windows classified as Historic Monuments.”

For Stéphane Bern, the matter is far from being settled. “I don’t think we’re any closer to seeing these stained glass windows”he notes before discussing his sometimes complex relationship with the French head of state. “The president, he emphasizes, I spend my time saying what I think – and not only good things – about his decisions… He has every reason to be angry with me.” Emmanuel Macron does not let him know, according to the host. “He has the elegance not to tell me.” As for Brigitte Macron, no tensions in sight. “Oui, I am very good friends with the first lady, concludes the father of Sagas. Brigitte Macron is a friend from before. However, I don't ask for anything, I am invited when a king or a queen comes to the Élysée.”
If he has a message to convey to Emmanuel Macron, Stéphane Bern will never hesitate to do so. “I don't use wooden language. I say everything I think and I don't always think well of those who govern us.” It has the advantage of being clear…
