Yesterday we learned that the Italian journalist Cecilia Sala was arrested in Iran. The journalist is isolated in a Tehran Prison since December 19, but according to what we know from the Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani he would be in good health.

THE’Italian Embassy in the country, in the person of Paola Amadei, has already visited Sala in prison: the woman then reassured him Cécilia’s family concerning his state of health, described as good. “At the disposal of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani, the Italian Embassy and Consulate in Tehran are following the case of the arrest of journalist Cecilia Sala with the greatest attention since its creation” – we read in an official note – “In coordination with the Presidency of the Council, Farnesina worked with Iranian authorities to clarify Sala’s legal situation and verify the conditions of his detention. In the hours that followed, Italian Ambassador Paola Amadei made a consular visit to check the conditions and state of Dr. Sala’s detention. The family was informed of the results of the visit.

Cecilia Sala arrested in Iran: the European Commission takes action

The Sala case also attracted the attention of European Commission and in Brussels this was defined as “sensitive”. The spokesperson for the European executive responsible for foreign policy, Anouar El Anouniadmitted that the issue will be analyzed closely.
