The French team missed its entry into contention this Saturday at the United Cup. France led by Ugo Humbert and Chloé Paquet and beaten by a score of 2 points to 1. The Frenchwoman was swept away 6-3, 6-1 by the Swiss Belinda Bencic who is attempting a return to the highest level after giving birth to her first child in April. If Ugo Humbert equalized with a 6-3 / 7-5 victory against Dominic Stricker, it was the doubles which was decisive.
The Swiss pair composed of Stricker and Bencic won in two sets 6-1 / 7-6 against Edouard Roger-Vasselin and Elixane Lechemia. France will have to catch up and even create a sensation against Italy in their second match next Tuesday.
