Ottawa Senators head coach Travis Green announced that goaltender Linus Ullmark will not accompany the team on the Sens’ five-game road trip that begins Saturday against the Winnipeg Jets.
The Senators recalled goalies Mads Sogaard and Leevi Merilainen from their AHL farm club to compensate for the absence of Ullmark and Anton Forsberg. Forwards Zack Ostapchuk and Cole Reinhardt will also join the big club.
The recalls come as Ullmark left last Sunday’s game with an upper-body injury and Forsberg remains out with a lower-body injury.
The 2023 Vezina Trophy winner was on an incredible streak before getting injured. He had won his last seven starts behind a 0.99 goals-against average and a .967 save percentage.

Sogaard played one game with Ottawa this season, participating in an 8-7 victory over the Los Angeles Kings on October 14. The Danish goaltender allowed four goals on 17 shots in relief of Forsberg, who was pulled early in the second period after allowing three goals.
Merilainen replaced Ullmark in the 3-1 loss to the Edmonton Oilers on December 22, making only his second NHL appearance this season.
Ostapchuk has three assists in 20 games with Ottawa this year, while Reinhardt has one goal and two points in six games.
