The 38-year-old man, suspected of having caused a fatal accident on the night of Christmas Eve on the A10 motorway near Cubzac-les-Ponts (Gironde), was placed in pre-trial detention, we learned this Friday .
“A judicial investigation has been opened into the counts of involuntary homicide aggravated by the circumstances of driving under the influence of an alcoholic state and after use of narcotics (amphetamines), and aggravated involuntary injuries” indicates in a press release the prosecutor of the Republic of Libourne, Loïs Raschel.
The suspect “already convicted several times”
The accident occurred on the night of December 24 to 25, around 1:30 a.m. The driver was traveling on the highway in the Paris-Bordeaux direction, and hit two cars. In the first, a 62-year-old woman died at the scene, while her husband was injured. In the second vehicle, a pregnant woman, aged 26, was injured. The suspect “had already been convicted on several occasions for traffic offenses and acts of aggravated violence” adds the prosecution.
