Hello everyone!

This week Skeleton Crew clearly raises the level! The story moves forward even if the mystery remains. However, unlike the last episode, this one presents an adventure with meaning and the adventures of our heroes resemble less of a filler episode than of a welcome opportunity to develop them as the danger reaches its climax and that the distance with At Attin seems to be shrinking!

I therefore invite you to follow me in my reflections, more rapid than usual (but still 100% subjectives, 1000000% spoilers) about this reassuring fifth episode!

Happy reading!

Finally !

You will have understood from reading this introduction: episode 4 left me a little tired. So I was a little late watching this episode. There was no question of not seeing him obviously, but the initial excitement was clearly starting to fade, giving way to an indifference that I prefer to avoid!

So, I greatly appreciated this episode with Indiana-Jonesesque accents! Adventure, character development, a visit to a meaningful place, an obvious betrayal and guesses about what's next… that's the menu today!

Why is this episode good?

First of all because unlike the previous episode, this one offers us an adventure with meaning. The recipe remains the same: our heroes discover a new place, experience a new adventure and leave with memories (potentially trauma) and a few meager clues/answers. However, here, the journey has a certain interest. Lanupa, a former pirate base, now converted into a spa resort for the galaxy's elite, is a central planet in the story. Indeed, the ship, the legend of the treasure of At Attin find their origins on this planet, in the lair of a legendary pirate, Captain Tak Rennod!

While episode 4 showed us a war on a sister planet to At Attin which I found uninteresting, here this world houses the pirate's cache, multiple traps to reach him and the scene of Jod's planned betrayal .

Because finally the coordinates of At Attin are known and Jod has revealed his game. This betrayal was more than predictable but it must be admitted that the scene where he seeks to reassure Wim makes the end of the episode more impactful because, despite his selfishness and his greed are rarely matched, Jod also knows how to be attentive and even goes so far as to smile sincerely (I think) during one of the children's antics.

Let's add to this an Indiana Jones-style dynamic as mentioned above which gives a welcome energy and a humor which worked for me. In addition, there is also a welcome variety of species in this episode, which is rare in other productions of the license!

Finally, a guess, what if Tak Rennod was the supervisor of At Attin? We'll see!

Conclusion

This episode clearly raises the level and shows that this series has it in its stomach. Fingers crossed that the resolution of this story is up to par!

We discuss it on the dedicated forum to find below!
