Progress update with the president.

The Gruissanais volleyball club will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2025 and after having rubbed shoulders with the high level by playing in Nationale 1, on the doorstep of professionalism, it finds itself in the regional.

This year the club, currently tied for first in the group, hopes to move up to Nationale 3. For its president, Régis Cazaute, it is not mission impossible: “We have a good generation arriving. The U16s were French U15 champions in 2023. Unfortunately, our best players leave us when they graduate from college and go to play in big cities. In addition, our Narbonnais neighbors are relaunching women's volleyball, which is a very good thing but risks depriving us of players from the pool. We will have to consult and work in harmony with them. budget, because following our raid, the territorial subsidies of all the communities have been reduced. We are studying solutions with the town hall to find other means of financing which would ultimately make it possible in the near future to finance a post. 'sports instructor'.

Opening of a fit volleyball section

The president notes that the club is at a turning point and that it must be revitalized. To do this he announces the opening Sunday January 12 a fit volleyball section, this new concept of healthy sport, with a specialized instructor.

The club remains focused on women's volleyball and with its hundred members, teams in all categories with also a leisure section, it hopes for better days with a move up to National 3. An important match is on the calendar on Saturday January 11 with the reception of Asbam with first place at stake in the gymnasium at 7:30 p.m.

Gruissan training is bearing fruit

In addition to the captain of the French team which participated in the Olympic Games, a young player is emerging. Estelle Schneider has just been selected as a passer for the French U16 team. She took part in a one-week French/German training course before flying to Italy to compete in the qualifications for the European Championship. Let's hope that she will follow in the footsteps of the captain of the French team Héléna Cazaute, but also of Alizée Camberabero and Margaux Bouzignac who play in the professional women's volleyball championship, also from the Gruissane training.
