New Year's Eve on the 31st is traditionally a risky evening for law enforcement. Burned cars, violence, alcohol abuse: every year, to prevent these excesses, the prefecture prohibits certain things.
The Prefect of Alpes-Maritimes, Hugues Moutouh, has decided to take the following measures across the entire department:
– From December 23 at 00:00 to January 2 at 08:00, the sale, purchase and distribution of fuels, corrosive combustibles and flammable gases at retail are prohibited, in any transportable container (unless duly justified).
– Retailers, managers and operators of service stations, particularly those which have automated devices allowing the distribution of fuel, must take the necessary measures to enforce this ban
– The purchase, sale, possession, transport and use of fireworks of categories F2 and F3 are prohibited on public roads or in the direction of public spaces, in places of large gatherings of people , as well as around them and in or towards residential buildings.
The prefecture reminds that the use of fireworks presents risks of serious harm to people and property.
– In Nice, from December 31 at 6 p.m. to January 1 at 8 a.m., the consumption of alcoholic beverages on public roads, outside the terraces of authorized restaurants and drinking establishments, is prohibited in certain areas.
