With “Ninja Warrior”, TF1 viewers are already entitled to a sporting and spectacular program. With “Gladiators”, they won’t be disappointed either. The first issue is broadcast this Friday, December 27 from 9:10 p.m.
What is the premise of “Gladiators”?
“Gladiators”, a cult show in the United States since 1989, is a sort of mixture of “Ninja Warrior” and “Fort Boyard”. Candidates will challenge sixteen gladiators, formidable athletes, through a series of ten events: climbing a climbing wall, crossing a bridge or putting balls in a basket for example while facing the gladiators. The candidates, called challengers, must demonstrate agility, speed and endurance. At the end of each episode, one man and one woman will qualify for the final stages. At the end, there will be two winners: a man and a woman who will each pocket the sum of 50,000 euros.

Who are the candidates?
The candidates are French men and women aged 21 to 47 from all regions. They have doctors, nurses, police officers, pastry chefs for example. They are all keen on sports and competition.
Who are the gladiators?
Eight male gladiators and eight female gladiators will face the candidates. They are elite athletes, professional athletes or CrossFit champions. Highly trained, they are ready for any physical challenge. Their names are Apollo, Diamond, Electra, Flame, Fury, Goliath, Tank and Viper. They will embody a universe inspired by superheroes.
Who presents the show?
“Gladiators” is presented by Denis Brogniart, Jean-Pierre Foucault and Hélène Mannarino. All three of them are already presenters on TF1 but this is the first time that they will host a show together. Hélène Mannarino and Jean-Pierre Foucault will support the candidates in the arena while Denis Brogniart will comment on the events from a booth.

Where was the show filmed?
“Gladiators” was filmed at the Cergy ice rink, the Aren’Ice, in the Paris region at the end of summer 2024. The production company ITV completely transformed the locations for six days of filming. A playing field of 60 mx 30 m with an area of 1300 m². 21 cameras and two cranes filmed the events.
How many episodes are planned?
The exact number of episodes is not yet known but TF1 plans to broadcast “Gladiators” several Fridays in a row at 9:10 p.m.
