A Vestavia Hills teenager has died after falling from a moving vehicle. According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, Hudson Joseph Meek, 16, of Vestavia Hills, suffered blunt force trauma when he fell from a moving vehicle in the 1900 block of Canyon Road around 10:45 p.m. last Thursday. Meek died from his injuries at UAB Hospital Saturday evening. Meek was an established actor, having played the younger version of the title character in the critically acclaimed film Baby Driver, according to his IMDB page. He also had guest roles on several television series, including the NBC drama series Found. “Our hearts are broken to share that Hudson Meek went home to be with Jesus tonight,” read a weekend post on his Instagram page. “His 16 years on this earth were far too short, but he accomplished much and had a significant impact on everyone he met.””Specific details regarding a celebration of Hudson’s life that will held on December 28, as well as how to contribute to a scholarship in Hudson’s memory at Vestavia Hills High School, in lieu of flowers, will follow,” the post continues. Acting Out, a performing arts academy in Vestavia Hills, released the following statement regarding Meek’s passing: “We are all devastated by the loss of one of AOA’s first and brightest stars. May you shine forever Hud. We will miss you deeply. Please join us in praying for his wonderful family during this difficult time. “A celebration of Meek’s life will be held on December 28, 2024 at Dawson Memorial Baptist Church in Homewood. It will also be broadcast live on his Instagram account and on his mother’s Facebook account. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Hudson J. Meek Memorial Scholarship. Contributions can be made by Venmo to HudsonMeekScholarship or by making a deposit at any Wells Fargo branch to account #5908190381. The Vestavia Hills Police Department is currently investigating the circumstances of Meek’s death.
