Dominique Pelicot, accused of allowing dozens of men to rape his wife, was found guilty during the Mazan rape trial which shocked France. Sentenced to the maximum sentence foreseen.
The trial on the victims ends today in France rape of Mazan: Dominique Pelicot, 72, was “found guilty” of the aggravated rapes against his ex-wife Gisèle Pelicot and was sentenced to 20 years in prison, the maximum penalty.
There are 51 defendants in the trial which was followed all over the world: they are accused of having raped, while she was sedated, Gisèle Pelicot, who was drugged by her husband Dominique for 10 years. “Mr. Pelicot, you are found guilty of aggravated rape against the person of Gisele Pelicot”, the president of the criminal court of the south-eastern French town, Roger Arata, declared in court today, before announcing the extent of the penalties.
Gisèle Pelicot’s entire family is present this morning in the courtroom at the Palace of Justice in Avignon. Dominique Pelicot stood up to listen to the judge who sentenced him to the maximum sentence, without expressing any particular emotions. The man is also found guilty of having collected images of his wife and daughter without their knowledge.

The sentences are still awaited for the other defendants accused of raping the 72-year-old at her husband’s invitation.
