London, 17 December 2024 – The Ukrainian striker of Chelsea, Mykhailo Mudrykrisks 4-year ban for doping. In October the player, according to the Ukrainian newspaper Tribuna, was found positive at a doping test: a banned substance detected in sample “A”. According to blogger Mykhailo Spivakovskyi it is the meldoniumalso known as Mildronato. The result of opening sample “B” is still unknown. This should be done in the next few days. After that it will become clear whether the player of the Ukrainian national team and Chelsea will be disqualified. The 23-year-old has been signed by Chelsea from Shakhtar Donetsk in January 2023 for 70 millionbut failed to establish itself at Stamford Bridge: this season he has only collected 15 appearanceswith three goals (in the Conference League) and five assists, starting only once.
Mudryk: “Never used banned substances”
Mudryk confirmed the case with a post on Instagram: “I have been informed that a sample provided to the FA contained a banned substance. It was one total shockbecause I have never knowingly used any banned substances or broken any rules and am working closely with my team to investigate on how this could have happened. I know I didn’t do anything wrong and I continue to hope to return to the field soon. I can’t say anything else at this time due to the confidentiality of the trial, but I will do so as soon as possible.”

Also the Chelsea received notification regarding the possible positivity of Mykhailo Mudryk. “The club confirms that the Football Association recently contacted our player Mykhailo Mudryk regarding a abnormal result during a test urine routine”, reads today’s note from the London club.
