The Association of Professionals in Philanthropy (AFP) – Quebec section highlighted the National Philanthropy Day by awarding nine awards of excellence to individuals and organizations who have demonstrated exceptional generosity, commitment and leadership in philanthropy.
Among these, Caroline Richer, whose candidacy was submitted by the Fondation Médicale des Laurentides et des Pays-d’en-Haut, received the Rising Star award from AFP Quebec in recognition of her impact and dedication that make all the difference to local healthcare.
Here is the submitted application:
“Caroline Richer: remember this name that moves the lines in philanthropy! For three years, she has been at the head of Trésors de la Fondation, a second-hand items store at the heart of the Fondation Médicale des Laurentides et des Pays-d’en-Haut. This store is not just a business, it is also an essential source of funding, covering all administration costs so that donations go directly to health projects.
A former employee of the banking sector, Caroline took a turn to get involved in a cause that is truly close to her heart: the health of her community. Since her arrival, she has breathed new energy into Les Trésors, doubling revenues from $500,000 to more than 1.2 million in 2023, with forecasts of 1.5 million for 2024. This success allows the Foundation to finance even more health projects, without touching donations.
Caroline is a unifier who knows how to mobilize her twenty employees and numerous volunteers. With her human approach, she has created a rewarding working atmosphere where everyone feels involved. Thanks to her ideas, such as the expansion of the used furniture section and the furniture collection service, she has made Trésors an essential place in the region. »
