Lebanese celebrated the announcement of the ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah on Tuesday evening, November 26. From Wednesday morning, the displaced took the road towards southern Lebanon. The war, with its share of destruction, lasted more than a year and resulted in the deaths of more than 3,800 Lebanese. Hezbollah neither disarmed nor capitulated. Weakened, activists, Shiite militia flag in hand, also celebrated the truce.
According to the agreement pushed by Washington, the Shiite militia must withdraw its men from the border zone. The Israeli army must leave southern Lebanon within 60 days, before Lebanese soldiers are deployed to the border. “If Hezbollah violates the agreement and tries to rearm, we will attack”warned Benjamin Netanyahu, Israeli Prime Minister.
