The number of job seekers registered with France Travail in category A (without activity) increased by 1.8% in October to reach 3.1 million throughout France (excluding Mayotte), according to figures published Wednesday by the government .
Including reduced activity (categories B and C), the number of job seekers stands at 5.46 million, up 0.5% compared to the month of September, according to these figures from the Directorate of Jobs. statistics from the Ministry of Labor (Dares).
For mainland France alone, the increase in unemployment reached 1.9% with the number of category A unemployed reaching 2.89 million last month.
Taking into account the reduced activity, the increase is also 0.5%, to 5.19 million.
Among the unemployed without any activity (category A), the increase is more marked among those under 25 (3.6%) than among those aged 25 to 49 (1.6%) and those aged 50 or over (also 1 .6%), still in mainland France.
The share of long-term job seekers, registered with France Travail for more than a year, decreased very slightly (-0.1%) to 43.4% in October.
Entries at France Travail in categories A, B and C decreased over one month by 5.6% to 510,800 for mainland France and 535,200 for the whole of France (same variation).
Dares does not comment on monthly data, which is too volatile, favoring quarterly developments.
Job offers collected by France Travail in October throughout France are also up 5.5% over one month to 307,400, Dares reported separately.
