In recent months, a turf war has raged in Rennes, where drug dealers settle their scores in broad daylight, with sometimes fatal shootings. Since the summer of 2024 alone, the macabre toll has risen to three deaths and around ten injured.
How did we get there?
Beyond the daily treatment of these news items, the journalists from Ouest-France in Rennes wanted to take a step back to understand the mechanisms and put these events into perspective.

Faced with such a sensitive subject, it was difficult for us to investigate and obtain information from judicial authorities or police forces. Asked by the editorial staff, the public prosecutor of Rennes, those responsible for the national police or even the Prefecture and other specialized services did not wish to speak and answer our questions.
On the other hand, other interlocutors, often met in the field or involved in the fight against narcotics, agreed to discuss it but only on condition of anonymity.
