“In Saint-Brice-sous-Rânes (Orne), we are committed to preserving and showcasing our beautiful heritage. The church is one, which we strive to maintain and enhance,” underlined Katia Guillochinmayor, during the consecration of two paintings from the end of the 17th century. These works have benefited from conservation and restoration work.

On November 9, 1973, several pieces of furniture from the church were included in the inventory of historic monuments.

One of the paintings represents the Education of the Virgin, the second the Assumption of the Virgin.

Aurélie Terral-Dréano was selected to carry out this work. 7,611 euros of financial support (i.e. 64% of the amount excluding tax of the work) was allocated to the municipality for this project, thanks to these various contributors to whom I renew all my thanks.

Wide support

The concert offered by the Cantiris d'Argentan choir, in June 2023 in the church, made it possible to collect donations amounting to €538.

A family gift

The family of Fernand Gallotmayor from 1959 to 1995, wished, following his funeral in September 2020, to return the donations collected (€2,323) to the municipality in order to guarantee the maintenance of the church, to which he paid such great attention.

At the same time, Katia Guillochin had proposed to the elected officials of the Municipal Council to take advantage of this reception to thank Fernand Gallot's children for another donation, that of their father's Harmonium installed in the church for many years.

This harmonium obviously has a certain sentimental value for them since their father played it for 70 years here in this church, a harmonium which had been given to him by his grandmother.

A plaque engraved in his memory will be affixed to this harmonium.

Total cost of renovation of the two works: €11,874.
