The oil and gas group has awarded Chinese shipbuilder Hudong-Zhonghua and Spanish Ibaizabal the construction and chartering of an LNG bunkering vessel, according to sources in the shipbuilding industry.

Since November 2020, TotalEnergies Marine Fuels has carried out more than 200 LNG bunkering operations with the two vessels, Gas Agility which operates from the Dutch port of Rotterdam and Gaz Vitality, the first based in France, in Marseille, according to a report carried out by the French company last October.

In service since early 2022, the Gaz Vitality has carried out the 100th LNG bunkering operation. The two bunkers, chartered by TotalEnergies, were built by Hudong-Zhonghua for the Japanese shipowner MOL.
