Second day of the trial for the murder of Zinedine at La Riche, at the Assises d’Indre-et-Loire. A second day marked by the passage, at the bar of the civil parties, and the cry from the heart of one of the victim’s sisters.
“You ruined our lives, we did nothing about it”exclaims the young woman, speaking, in tears, directly to the accused. An accused, without reaction, continuing to stare at her. “My mother, I see her cry every day”continues the young woman, bursting into tears once again, just like her mother and her little sister, seated on the bench to her left.
The victim’s big sister then depicts, with supporting souvenir photos, a cheerful, kind, attentive, joking brother, “far from the hassle”. “A brother and a best friend”adds the victim’s little brother. Zinedine is also described by his sister as the favorite of the neighborhood and especially of his mother, even if he made her scream with his sneaker purchases, she explains with a smile. “A sun” in this family which now lives “in the dark”specifies his little sister, at the helm. A family she describes as destroyed. “We don’t want anything anymore. We haven’t moved forward for three years, we haven’t slept for three years […] We actually have more reason to live.”she concludes.
When asked by the President of the Court what they expected from this trial, the eldest of the family specified that she “I don’t even know what I’m waiting for. There’s no reason for my brother to be gone. I want justice for my family.
This will never bring my brother back, but at least there will be justice.”
