In the end, no major damage was recorded. The firefighters carried out around sixty interventions, mainly for roof coverings and objects threatening to fall. Some trees gave way under the pressure, notably in Gier, or in Saint-Étienne.
Around 2,500 customers without electricity in the Rhône valley
At the end of the day, Monday, around 2,500 homes were without electricity in the Loire. Thanks to the mobilization of its technicians on “all operational bases”, Enedis was able to announce, this Tuesday at midday, a new count with 600 homes still waiting to be connected to the network.
For the entire Rhône region affected by this episode (Ain, Rhône, Loire), Enedis counted, this Tuesday at noon, still 2,500 homes without electricity, including around 1,500 in the Rhône.
Storm Bert did not break records in the Loire
In terms of intensity, storm Bert did not break records in the Loire department. But she came close. A gust was recorded Monday at 143 km/h in Saint-Chamond.
It is also in the Gier that the absolute wind record, in the Loire, was recorded. On December 27, 1999, the “storm of the century”, which caused some 90 deaths in France, hit the Loire with a gust recorded at 150 km/h in Doizieux.
