Two businesses in the town center of Saint-Julien-de-Concelles (near Nantes) were visited on the night of Friday 9 to Saturday 10 November.
After breaking the automatic door, the thugs stole the cash register of a bakery. Then an attempted break-in was noted in a restaurant. The investigation is ongoing.
Facts that happened when everything was off
It was around 12:45 a.m. when these incidents took place. Certainly not a coincidencesince all the street lights had been turned off since 12:30 a.m. A measure that dates from two years ago for the sake of energy savings.
In fact, the entire municipality is plunged into the dark once that time has passed. This will no longer be the case soon.
Lighting reactivated in the city center in December?
The traders asked, during a meeting with the deputy in charge of security, Eric André, that the town center of the town – equipped for several years with video protection cameras – no longer be in the dark.
Request accepted.
We regularly have businesses targeted in the city center. It is always a dilemma between the question of safety and energy saving. The office met last week and decided to favor the first. A municipal decree will be issued to this effect. We hope that this will be activated in December. In addition, we can better exploit the images from video protection cameras when they are turned on.
The measure only concerns the hyper-center of Saint-Julien-de-Concelles. The rest of the town will continue to be in darkness.
