Aston Martin F1 had a better weekend than the previous Treble races in Las Vegas, thanks to a race that saw Fernando Alonso finish just outside the points. After catastrophic qualifying, the Spaniard
“We did a little better than we expected in Las Vegas, but our efforts were not rewarded as Fernando narrowly missed the last point after a good performance” said Mike Krack, the team manager.
“Almost everyone stopped twice, but we were quite aggressive with Fernando's strategy by starting with the softs and in the end he ran out of tires with the hards for the top 10. That left him left defenseless against Sergio Perez in the final rounds.”
Lance Stroll had a difficult race due to a non-functional radio: “Lance's race was more complicated because we didn't have radio communication with him for the entire race. This led to a big loss of time when he stopped on lap nine because Lance had no means of warning in advance of its arrival.”
“We had to manage the race via the pit panel and were unable to recover lost time. Even without the radio, Lance did a good job with tire management and had a good race.”
“We send our congratulations to Max Verstappen on his success this year and for winning his fourth world title. Our attention now turns to Qatar next weekend, a completely different challenge in terms of track and temperatures. We will remain positive, let's take the lessons of this week and try to come back stronger.”
