Follow The Awakening of Pont-Audemer
“Extremely serious events” occurred in Pont-Audemer (Eure) on the night of Friday November 22 to Saturday November 23, 2024, according to the words of the Évreux public prosecutor, Rémi Coutin. A man was shot and killed” in a settling of accounts against a backdrop of drug trafficking.
The murder took place between midnight and one a.m. SATURDAY. The prosecutor could not indicate the exact street of the violent attack, which took place not far from the fire station, located rue du 8-Mai-1945, in a commercial area.
Armed individuals in cars
Domiciled in Pont-Audemer, the victim born in 1991 was 33 years old (or 32 years old). “He was known to the courts,” specifies the prosecutor. The man found himself as passenger in a car, when other vehicles approached, at least two.
“Seeing them arrive”, the victim and his driver “tried to take the leak ” while driving. The occupants of the opposing cars then fired a volley of shots.
Apparently, the victims' car was moving when they were shot. But this requires confirmation, the investigation is only in its early stages.
The driver, a 34-year-old (or 33-year-old) resident of Val-d'Oise, was unhurt. But the passenger is hit. The driver seeks refuge in the fire station nearby, where the death of the passenger is recorded.
A autopsy at the start of the week will determine the injuries and the number of bullets he received. In any case, the attackers “fired with weapons of different calibers” on the car, whose occupants were not armed.
Eure in the grip of “criminal groups”
The Public Prosecutor’s Office “seized the research section of the Rouen gendarmerie”, affirms Rémi Coutin. A flagrant investigation for murder by an organized gang and attempted murder by an organized gang was opened. The perpetrators of the crime are currently being sought and have not yet been identified. The number of attackers is not known precisely.
For the prosecutor, the “serious, very important facts” are added to several events such as two homicides in the La Madeleine district of Évreux in July 2023, or the escape of prisoner Mohamed Amra, and “confirm that the Department of Eure is regularly the prey of criminal groups ready for anything.”
