Huawei has started rolling out a new global update for the Watch GT 5, firmware version 5.0.0.125. The changelog includes optimizations for some mapping functions, additional language support, and minor updates to the Notification Center. Although this update is similar to the recent Watch GT 5 Pro release, there is one feature missing.
The Huawei Watch GT 5 Smartwatch is updated with new firmware rolling out globally. The watch launched alongside the Watch GT 5 Pro in September, with features designed for runners and cyclists.
This update is almost identical to the Huawei Watch GT 5 Pro update. The changelog indicates that Brazilian Portuguese is now supported as a language for training voice messages. There are optimizations for offline map functions and system stability. Additionally, the Notification Center is supposed to contain new and improved descriptions of each setting, which you can view when you tap the information icon. However, there is one feature missing in Watch GT 5 firmware version 5.0.0.125 compared to Watch GT 5 Pro. This is touch protection when playing golf, to avoid accidental triggers.
The update appears to be rolling out gradually to the smartwatch and will be available for download via the Huawei Health app. It is unclear how long it will take for the update to reach all units of the Huawei Watch GT 5 smartwatch (currently €249.99 on Amazon).
