Castle Bridge. Olympic and Paralympic day for athletes of all ages. For Olympic and Paralympic Day, the town wanted to mark the occasion by offering an active day in which everyone could participate: families, friends, teenagers, seniors. The event, organized on the Charles-de-Gaulle esplanade, even welcomed a retirement home and young isolated foreign minors.
“The municipality has largely achieved its objective,” says the deputy for sports, Ouissam Gdara.
These activities were set up and run by a large number of volunteers: parents of students, associations whether through the loan of equipment (badminton club) or entertainment (joyeuse pétanque, table tennis club, departmental disabled sports committee). The municipal sports office offered a refreshment bar all day long.
The municipal agents and elected officials were also present. The renewal of this type of action has already been requested on this same esplanade, because the sports day helped to liven up this neighborhood.
This sporting event is the last of the season for the municipality, which is a territory labeled Terre de jeux. The municipality has in fact proposed, within the City’s Animation Center, various events related to sport over the months: shows in the cultural season, the latest being Impulse de la break dance; two Parasports Awareness Days for the general public, in October, and for young people from the teen center during the April holidays; participation in the Olympic and Paralympic week with the three public school groups.
