A man and a 26-year-old woman, a couple, were indicted this Thursday for the murders of two men, followed by the fire of an apartment in a public housing project in Douarnenez (Finistère), announced the public prosecutor's office. Brest.
Arrested and placed in police custody
The two suspects, born in 1998 and already convicted of acts of willful violence, were arrested on Monday in Perpignan and then placed in police custody. These are “investigations carried out on the immediate environment of the victims”, two men aged 44 and 61 years old killed with knives, which made it possible to establish “that a couple had spent the evening preceding the facts” in their company, before disappearing “suddenly”, according to a press release from the prosecution.
The interviews of the suspects “as well as the clues collected” made it possible “to reinforce the suspicions and the clues in favor of their presence in the apartment as well as their participation in the facts”, specified the prosecutor Camille Miansoni, in his press release.
Stabbings
Presented to an investigating judge, the suspects were indicted for murder, murder of a vulnerable person, alteration of a crime scene and damage to the property of others by dangerous means. Placed in pre-trial detention, they “face the penalty of life imprisonment”, underlined the prosecution.
The gendarmes discovered the facts on November 9 around 6:20 a.m., when they spotted, during a patrol, smoke coming from a HLM apartment located near the port of Tréboul, in Douarnenez. The 44-year-old man was discovered in the street at the foot of the building, shirtless, barefoot, wearing bloody jeans. Victim of 16 stab wounds, he died shortly after emergency services arrived. The body of the 61-year-old victim was discovered in the burned and completely destroyed apartment. The autopsy revealed that he also died from multiple stab wounds.
Known to the gendarmerie services for drug trafficking, the 61-year-old victim was placed under guardianship, bedridden daily in a medical bed and “could only move with difficulty”, according to a previous press release from the Quimper public prosecutor's office. “It was known as being likely to usually welcome idle people, looking for narcotics, often alcoholics, thereby causing numerous neighborhood disturbances,” according to the same source. A knife with traces of blood was discovered outside the home, in the grass.
