For those who will be Ouistreham (Calvados) this summer, tourists and locals, lots of entertainment and activities have been planned, which will appeal to young and old alike. There will be at least one event per day throughout the summer. To find your way around, plan and organize, everyone can obtain the program on the city’s website or in paper form from the tourist office or town hall. In the meantime, here are ten highlights of this summer season.

1: three fireworks

Three fireworks displays will be offered this summer: Saturday, July 13 at 11 p.m., at the beach, after the firefighters’ ball; Saturday, July 27, at the beach, the fairground fireworks; and Thursday, August 15, at the port, after the Blue Jitters Jazz swing concert ball at 10:30 p.m.

2: music at balls, concerts and festivals…

The summer will be very musical with balls and concerts every Saturday evening, in Riva, at the port or in the town, with a jumble, the Ouistreham Jazz Big Band, the firefighters’ ball, the July 14 ball and the Girly Big Band swing, the Rock in Hearts festival, Cord’Hathlons and covers of the greatest hits, the foam party and DJ Phil, Tuxedo, Reload Dark Country Rock.

3: and tours and terraces

The musical terraces are at the port, in the town and in Riva, to liven up aperitifs on the terrace, with local musicians. Musical tours: Wednesday July 10, the Fun radio Summer Break tour with concert, Esplanade Lofi at 9 p.m., the Coca Cola tour, Wednesday August 7, Place Lofi, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

4: special evenings

Saturday, June 29 at 9 p.m., the Saint-Jean fires, Place Lemarignier in the town, followed by a Karaoke; Saturday, July 13, the firefighters’ ball followed by the torchlight procession to the beach and the fireworks at 11 p.m.; Sunday, August 4, the sailors’ festival, with, in the morning, the ceremony for those lost at sea, and the procession leaving from the Saint-Samson church, and in the afternoon, Place Charles de Gaulle, at the port, activities including a pirate camp, a combat arena, mast climbing, an escape room.

5: castles to build

The sandcastle competitions are still expected: it’s Thursday July 18 at and Tuesday August 13 from 2 p.m. at the main aid station. Registration on site.

6: quality street arts

Two street art shows, Enlivrez-vous, Thursday July 18, 6 p.m., in the gardens behind the tithe barn and Miam Circus, Wednesday August 14 at 6 p.m., at the Kieffer stadium.

7: guided tours

Guided and commented tours with the tourist office, to visit the town, Riva, the lighthouse and the exhibition, The artists of the Côte de Nacre from 1800 to the present day.

8: markets for creators

The designer markets allow you to discover the creations of local artisans. It is on Place Lemarignier, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., on Fridays, July 19 and August 9.

9: sports courses for children

Summer sports courses for children aged 6 to 14, from July 8 to August 9, every week, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Registration Ouistreham-rivabella.fr Sports and water sports section.

10: not forgetting the swimming pool, the Ferris wheel…

The Pavilion remains open all summer with all its usual activities and its exhibition on the women of Calvados in the resistance, the Aquabella swimming pool remains open. The library is also open all summer and it is moving to the beach with two cabins near the Ferris wheel, for story time and plastic arts workshops. Finally, along the Avenue de la Paix, the Ferris wheel and for children, the presence of Girafou and trampolines.
