PARIS, June 28 (Reuters) – Inflation in France, harmonised to European standards, reached 2.5% in June over a year, in line with expectations, marking a turnaround compared to May, according to preliminary data published on Friday by the INSEE.

The Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP), which allows comparisons with other eurozone countries, rose by 2.5% over one year at the end of June, compared with 2.6% (unrevised) in May. Economists had expected an increase of 2.5%.

Over one month, the HICP index would increase by 0.1% as in the previous month and in line with the consensus.

The consumer price index (CPI) is up 2.1% in the first estimate over the twelve months to the end of June, after 2.3% in May.
