In Orléans, firefighters mobilized to search for a woman who jumped into the Loire

A major search system was deployed on the evening of Thursday June 27 in the Loire in Orléans to try to find a young woman who had fallen into the water near the George V bridge.

Nearly thirty firefighters were mobilized in Orléans on Thursday, June 27, to try to find a 24-year-old woman who had jumped into the Loire, shortly before 8:30 p.m.

The searches were concentrated mainly between the George V bridge, where the fall occurred, and the Europe bridge. According to firefighters, the victim quickly sank and disappeared in the waves.

Water rescue services searched the Loire, assisted by a pedestrian and dog team with two dogs, as well as a drone.

Many walkers and cyclists were present and watched the search operations. They were also numerous to scan the waters to try to catch a glimpse of the missing person.

This Thursday evening, the water level of the Loire was quite high and the current relatively strong. The missing person could unfortunately not be found before nightfall.

The search system had to be lifted at 10:40 p.m.
