Will snow return to Anjou? The weather forecasts have improved in recent hours. Snow is expected to fall this Thursday, November 21, in the department. “We will most likely have snowflakes at daybreak, with slightly positive temperatures, between 2 and 4°C”says Sébastien Decaux, forecaster for Météo Concept.
“The hold on the ground will be more complicated. But in the northern part, towards the border with Mayenne and Sarthe, things could hang a little”he adds. Snowfall is expected to last until “11 a.m. or 12 p.m. at the latest”.
A particularly marked conflict of air masses
In terms of temperatures, we will see a big difference. “We will have up to 10°C difference between the south and the north of Maine-et-Loire. Around 11 a.m., it will be 2°C in Angers and 10°C in Cholet”notes Sébastien Decaux. “The mild air will then take over in the afternoon, with fairly heavy rain”he continues.

The end of the day should be marked by the return of cold air in certain sectors of the department, which finds itself in the middle of a particularly marked conflict of air masses. “Precipitation could become snowy again, from 5 p.m., in the extreme north of Maine-et-Loire. Near Cholet and Angers, the risk of snow will be less marked in the evening. Gentleness will resist »underlines Sébastien Decaux.
Friday morning to also watch
A gale is also expected in Anjou, this Thursday, November 21, with gusts “between 70 and 80 km/h”. Sébastien Decaux finally calls for monitoring for Friday morning, with “a risk of showers in the form of sleet or even flakes. It could make the roads slippery”.
“We will then witness a powerful and spectacular warm spell this weekend with temperatures of 17 or 18°C for Sunday”he concludes.
The attentive… but reassuring department
On the side of the departmental council, we want to be reassuring before this Thursday. “They are forecasting a little snow mixed with rain, but we are looking at temperatures which remain positive, with a road temperature which will be between 4 and 5°C in the morning”underlines Philippe Trouillard, director of roads at the departmental council.
“We have no fears in terms of traffic. We are nevertheless preparing to intervene, at the very beginning of the day, if there is a drop in temperatures”he adds.
