The first snowflakes have started to fall on the Côte-d’Or. An episode announced by Météo-France, which had placed the department on orange vigilance from 11 a.m. and until this Friday, November 22 at 6 a.m.. “Our salting machines are already in operation” indicates Julien Rouet, from CIGT 21, the Traffic Engineering and Management Center in Côte-d’Or.
“The snowfall is more intense in Auxois, the Saulieu sector, on the heights of Beaune, and those of Saint-Seine-l’Abbaye, but these are reasonable layers of snow for the moment” he specifies.
Salting and snow removal operations are underway, particularly on the A38. And Julien Rouet recalls the precautionary advice : “you must give priority to winter service vehicles, adapt your speed. And if possible postpone your trips”. The most snow is expected at the end of the day and beginning of the night, after a lull in the afternoon.
“From 6:30 p.m., we advise you to avoid traveling” indicates Julien Rouet. Real-time information are constantly updated on the site inforoute21.
A prefectural decree requires heavy goods vehicles weighing more than 7.5 tonnes to lower their speed to 70 km/hour and prohibits them from overtaking on roads where at least one lane is covered in snow. This order is in effect until Friday November 22 at 11 a.m.
In Saône-et-Loire, snow is also affecting some sectors and traffic conditions are difficult in the Montceau-les-Mines and Paray-le-Monial sectors.
