3 Samsung announcements that we are eagerly awaiting

The appointment has been made and it will take place just before the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, in the French capital. Samsung will organize its Galaxy Unpacked for summer 2024 in Paris on July 10 and many announcements are to be expected. The program is almost known and we have decided to focus on the three new features that we are looking forward to the most. As always, we are also waiting for your opinions in comments.

Galaxy Z Fold6: will it be the new king of foldables?

The year 2023 was that of the Galaxy Z Flip5 at Samsung, with the integration of a new secondary screen. The Galaxy Z Fold5 made do with a timid upgrade to establish its dominance, at least on this side of the globe. The impression of a giant resting a little too much on its laurels has been verified and the Honor Magic V2 or the OnePlus Open have given Samsung’s 2-in-1 a knock of old.

Samsung can’t afford to make the same mistake twice and owes its users… and the market a rematch. The first details suggest a new, more compact and square design, with much more prominent edges. The Galaxy Z Fold6 would still have a 6.3-inch external screen, in a 22:9 format rather than 23.1:9. It would also be lighter than its predecessor, weighing 239 grams compared to 253 grams for the Galaxy Z Fold5.

In addition to the usual technical update, Samsung should tout the qualities of Z Fold6 as a work tool. Like the Galaxy S24, the brand should highlight AI functions that maximize productivity at work. The other strength of the South Korean manufacturer is that its new smartphone should receive Android updates for seven years, i.e. until 2030. An argument which can necessarily make the difference, especially for one of the most popular smartphones. most expensive on the market.

The Galaxy Z Fold6 would not necessarily be Samsung’s most expensive smartphone. For a few months, some indiscretions have mentioned the existence of an even more premium Galaxy Z Fold6 Ultra. Unfortunately, this model could only arrive in South Korea.

Why is this announcement important?

Competition is stronger than ever and Samsung lost its crown in the first quarter of 2024 to Huawei. The South Korean manufacturer cannot ignore this trend or the rise of brands like Honor, Motorola or OnePlus. On the French market, the situation is less complicated and Samsung’s status should help the Galaxy Z Fold6 to become a must-have.

Galaxy Ring: Samsung wants to put a ring on our finger

Expected for months, the Galaxy Ring is set to be one of the stars of the next Samsung Unpacked. The connected ring, shown at MWC 2024, remains somewhat mysterious even though we already know that it aims to offer health and sleep tracking functions. With the 2024 Olympics in its sights, Samsung will highlight this aspect with a new product that should take this sector into a new dimension.

Due to its size, it would be even more accurate than a watch in tracking heart rate, body temperature, movement and sleep. It is said that it could even monitor the wearer’s diet. The ring would cost between $300 and $350, while rumors also suggest the arrival of a subscription.

Why is this announcement important?

Some manufacturers are already well established (like Oura) and the Galaxy Ring will have competitors upon its release. The stakes are high for Samsung, which must convince people of the relevance of wearing a bracelet, after having focused on connected watches and bracelets. The format is radically different and could allow Samsung to complete its wearables offering, before the arrival of Chinese competition.

Galaxy AI: After Apple’s announcements, Samsung must react

Samsung mentioned Galaxy AI earlier this year, during the presentation of the Galaxy S24, S24+ and S24 Ultra. The artificial intelligence functions are the great novelty of this vintage and help to improve the user experience. Several smartphones can now benefit from Galaxy AI, including folding ones such as the Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Z Fold5 or the Galaxy Z Flip4 and Galaxy Z Fold4. However, the Galaxy Z Flip6 and Galaxy Z Flip6 will be the first true folding smartphones in the “artificial intelligence era” proclaimed by Samsung.

We can expect that the South Korean manufacturer will seek to drive the point home. It could also offer new exclusive AI features. Future Galaxy Zs should bring with them the OneUI 6.1.1 update which will bring new features to Galaxy AI. Although it is not reserved for new models, the Galaxy Z Fold6 has everything to become the new ambassador of Galaxy AI and mobile productivity.

Why is this announcement important?

As we have seen with Apple, artificial intelligence is the main attraction on mobile devices. Samsung has made it a priority since the beginning of the year and will not back down with Galaxy AI, especially after the announcements of its rival and those of Google at the I/O conference. There is no doubt that the South Korean group will still rely on Google’s technology to enrich its offer and convince to launch – later – a paid formula of Galaxy AI.
