Visiting the Cassagne inn (Le Pontet) and the Capitole My Cinewest cinema in Pontet a few days ago, Claude Lelouch, 87, told “La Provence” why he came to film in 2023 in the city of popes his feature film with Kad Merad in the lead: “Filming in Avignon was by chance, once again. I had originally planned to finish the film in Venice, during Carnival. And then they pissed me off in Venice! I came across people who asked me what I wanted to do, the gondoliers, their union… I said: 'listen, I'm not going to advertise a country of weirdos!' Suddenly, I said to myself: 'for this film, I don't have to leave France'. My daughter Salomé (Lelouch) often comes with her pieces to the Off Festival. I had come to spend time with her. Here, especially in July, I love the atmosphere of creativity and the joy of living. We were welcomed cheerfully, and what's more, there were no gondoliers! There are two kinds of people in life: those who simplify things and those who complicate them. As soon as I'm faced with complications, I leave! The same as soon as I come across someone who is zealous, who tells me: “so, you're going to see what you're going to see…” The worst are even those who are zealous!
“Finally” is notably scheduled from this Wednesday, November 13 at the Capitole My Cinewest in Pontet and at the Pathé Cap Sud in Avignon.
